Donación Cáritas

Transgrancanaria and other sport events material will be destined to several institutions on the island via Cáritas, and also to Honduras y Cape Verde

Last Tuesday Cáritas Diocesana de Canarias picked up at Arista Eventos facilities the remaining sport material of Transgrancanaria and other sport events. This contribution was made on behalf of every participant, cooperator, volunteer and association that has been part  of such competitions.

“We are happy to know that the donated material will reach those in need”, said David Déniz, Arista Eventos co-director. He also stated that “this is just one of the many actions that have been carried out in order to help those who need it the most”.

This donation -sweaters, jackets, technical T-shirts and caps, among others- will not only stay in Gran Canaria via Cáritas, since several shipments have also been sent to Cape Verde. The same thing will happen on 31 october at the VIIth Solidary Friends Meeting, where every fund raised will be destined to the Santa Mónica Project, a Prevention Centre in Honduras for the children and youngsters living at risk.

GranCanaria_vitolo_correr1The Sevilla footballer and full international player for Spain, Víctor Machín, Vitolo, became last july a new ambassador of Gran Canaria image.

Gran Canaria is #anislandforrunners, according to the footballer’s article on his blog at the Gran Canaria website called “5 active (and addictive!) tourism plans for Gran Canaria”

Vitolo highlights the island’s wonderful conditions to do sports. “Gran Canaria is a dynamic island which provides all I need to train, play sports other than football, or just sit back and treat myself.  The natural wealth and sheer variety of landscapes in Gran Canaria offer many alternatives to go out and enjoy the open air”.

Among the five topics the player named, we choose the first one, #anislandforrunners, where he points out Transgrancanaria as a trail reference on the island: “Another highlight is the Transgrancanaria, a mountain run which has been added to the select world ultratrail circuit. In its most gruelling version there are 125 kilometres to cover, joining the island from one point to another and pushing runners’ pounding legs up to 8,500 metres. If you think this challenge is beyond you, then don’t despair… you can take it steady with the Transgrancanaria Promo, with a distance of “only” 17 kilometres”.

Transgrancanaria is very happy to have this grancanarian footballer taking our brand around the world, together with other important ambassadors, such as the swimmer Thaïs Henríquez, also the footballer David Silva and the swimmer Enhamed Enhamed.

The topic of the Transgrancanaria 2020, that will be held from 4 to 8 March, will focus on the role of women in trail sport

All the warriors who will dare to face the Transgrancanaria HG count impatiently the days left for the challenge, and as a brief but important advance today has taken place in the village of Moya the presentation of the topic of the race for 2020.

Poli Suárez, Mayor of Moya, together with Fernando González, CEO of Arista Eventos, and with a group of women from Moya, have announced this morning the topic for 2020 and the slogan of the race: “Trail is female”, a tribute to women on this sport.       Trail is the sport that allows us to enjoy nature testing our physical abilities, with natural obstacles and with the advantage, unlike running on track, to enjoy changing and impressive landscapes, and in this, women are increasingly represented.

Not only has their participation increased in this discipline, but also their performance, more and more women have top positions in international races and enter the top 10 of the rankings, all this drives the growth and increase in level of this sport. “From the organization we wanted to focus the topic of the next edition in the role that currently plays women in the trail,” said Fernando Gonzalez, CEO of Arista Events, company that organizes the race.

The advance in equality moves forward in all aspects of reality and in sport too. “With this initiative we also aim to encourage the initiation of women in this sport, not to be afraid and gradually increase participation not only at a recreational level to enjoy the mountains but also at a competitive level”, he said. The figures support it, in the 2019 edition, the participation in the race taking into account the gender of the participants was of 25% of female runner that represents about 1000 athletes who challenged themselves and faced the mountains and ravines of Gran Canaria.

Indeed the council of Moya has committed to this initiative, which will join this year by bringing the slogan “Trail is Female” to the municipality.  “The council will continue working for effective equality and to help make visible the value of the role played by women in sport and in all areas of society,” said Poli Suarez, mayor of the municipality of Moya.
