The 17Km race starts in Sioux City and finishes at Expomeloneras Conference Centre.
Despite the Transgrancanaria HG Promo race and the Family and Youth Trans will still run over 17Km, the former category would completely change its track. As stated above, the starting line would be placed at Sioux City and it will end at Expomeloneras, which certainly implies a complete rearrangement of the route.
In order to face new challenges and to show other emblematic locations in Gran Canaria, the race committee has decided to modify the track, which serves as a backdrop for a new generation of athletes aged from 15 to 21 years old that will compete in the Transgrancanaria Youth category.
“This new track gradually climbs to a wild and not very well known area of the island, the Amurga massif and then, lead us to Morro Besudo before crossing la Cañada de San Agustín” said Fernando González. Then, they will have to descend to reach La Yegua ravine and finally, the Guinchos ravine.
As Fernando stated: “this valley runs into Las Burras beach and continues along the coastline until we reach one of Gran Canaria’s most famous landmarks, the Maspalomas Lighthouse.” In fact, thousands of tourists will cheer runners while they see them run through Las Burras beach, Playa del Inglés and Maspalomas dunes, which is a unique way to enjoy Gran Canaria’s beautiful beaches and possibly “tropical” supply points that will be located in different places.
