The Salomon International team runner will be present in the KV El Gigante and in the 24 km Starter race – The Central European country is the fifth most represented country in the race with more than seventy participants.
Bart Przedwojewski will lead the Polish expedition in this year’s Transgrancanaria SWE. The Salomon International runner will be one of the favourites to win El Gigante Vertical Kilometre and the 24km Starter category. The elite athlete will be accompanied by more than seventy participants from the Central European country, which becomes the fifth most represented nationality in the race.
Przedwojewski is one of the best middle-distance mountain runners in the world. At the age of 30, his track record includes a victory in the Golden Trail Championship in 2020, two podium finishes in the Zegama-Aizkorri marathon in the Basque Country and a third place in the Marathon du Mont-Blanc.
It’s my first time in Gran Canaria and I’m really looking forward to it because I’ve only heard positive comments about the race and the island”, says the Pole, who will first get to know the Canarian trails during a training camp. “I don’t know what my performance will be like”, he continues, “but I’m sure that I’m going to give my all in the Vertical Kilometre El Gigante and the Starter”, which will be held on 22 and 23 February, respectively.
Alongside the runner from the small town of Glucholazy will be more than seventy runners from Poland, which in recent years has established itself as one of the nations with the highest participation in the Transgrancanaria SWE thanks to the growth of trail running in the country. Przedwojewski will also represent the powerful Salomon International team together with American Courtney Dauwalter, who will participate in the 128 km Classic category.
The Transgrancanaria SWE is sponsored by the institutions Cabildo de Gran Canaria through Turismo de Gran Canaria and Gran Canaria European Sports Island , the Government of the Canary Islands with Promotur Islas Canarias, Maspalomas Costa Canaria, Instituto Municipal de Deportes de Las Palmas de Gran Canaria and the Town Hall of Tejeda; and the companies SWE, Fred.
