Transgrancanaria SWE will donate 50% of the cost of all registrations made next Wednesday, October 19th, to the Spanish Association Against Cancer on the occasion of the World Breast Cancer Day. In this way, the sport event contributes through the Association to the research on this and other oncological diseases and to the support of people with this diagnosis.
The Transgrancanaria SWE mountain race, which will be held between 22 and 26 February, supports for the first time this day of solidarity against a disease that is diagnosed each year in more than 30,000 people in Spain and which is the most common tumour among women, according to data from the European Cancer Information System.
This initiative also allows runners from all over the world to participate directly in the battle against cancer by donating to the Asociación Española Contra el Cáncer, the leading organisation that for 69 years has dedicated its efforts to highlighting the reality of cancer in Spain, reducing the impact of the disease and improving the quality of life of those who suffer from it.
The CEO of Arista Summit, Fernando González, is “very happy” to “be able to collaborate from Arista with another solidarity cause, in this case with the Spanish Association Against Cancer on a day as special as World Breast Cancer Day”. “Arista has always been committed to social causes and we will continue to do so because we have a social commitment”, adds González, who recalls other projects such as the construction of a well next to a nursery in Gambia with the NGO The Monkey Girl.
Fernando Fraile, president of the provincial board of the Spanish Association Against Cancer in Las Palmas, wanted to thank the organisation of Transgrancanaria SWE for the gesture they have made to cancer patients. “This is a first class race, with a great national and international repercussion that will help to give visibility to the patients of these pathologies and their families. The contribution from the registration fees on 19 October will help the Association to continue providing services and meeting the needs of thousands of patients that we attend to every day at our centres in the province of Las Palmas”. “In addition,” Fraile continues, “sport and physical activity is vital to strengthen healthy lifestyles and is an important support in the recovery of many patients.
Arista is developing a new programme of collaboration with society through associations and NGOs. Currently, the sports events company works with the non-profit association The Monkey Girl and in recent years has collaborated with institutions such as the Guardia Civil with the acquisition of drones for the rescue of people in the mountains and organisations such as Open Arms in the care of migrants at sea, Proyecto Hombre, Caritas or Hogar Mantay in Peru.
